How long will it be before I see results?+

Herbal supplements generally take time to work in the body. We ask you to try the supplements for a full 3 weeks. We always recommend using the therapeutic dosage, unless the supplement is being used as a preventative.

If using the supplements as a preventative then use the maintenance dosage of 1 drop for every 2 lb of body weight twice a day up to 50 lb. Thereafter add one drop for every 4lbs. Otherwise, use the therapeutic dosage. Click here to see therapeutic dosage chart. Be sure to use the product twice a day as directed.

Can your supplements be used together with other supplements?+

It is safe to feed your pet any NHV supplements together.

With other brands of herbal supplements, we cannot guarantee the quality of ingredients, formulations, or any cautions and contraindications. Therefore, we suggest not mixing different brands of herbal supplements together.

NHV supplements can be used in conjunction with some pharmaceuticals. Please contact us with any specific details and we will be happy to assist you.

Always check with your vet when using pharmaceuticals along with supplements.

My pet is on pharmaceuticals. I would prefer to not use pharmaceuticals. What should I do?+

At NHV we believe in taking an integrative approach to your pet's health— which means combining alternative therapies like acupuncture, nutritional therapies and supplements with conventional medications to facilitate healing.

However, we understand that many pet parents prefer to use only natural supplements. We strongly advise consulting your veterinarian and working with them to determine the best course of action for your pet.

If your pet is currently on pharmaceuticals, and you and your vet have determined that you would like to try natural supplements only, we recommend the following for weaning a pet off a pharmaceutical and on to a supplement:

Give your pet both the pharmaceutical and supplement together for about 2.5 weeks, then slowly decrease the dosage of the pharmaceutical by 1/4 every 3-4 days.

Please be sure to contact us for the use of pharmaceuticals and supplements, so that we may check any possible listed cautions and contraindications for you. Always check with your vet when using pharmaceuticals along with supplements.

I accidentally left my supplement out on the counter overnight, is it still safe to use?+

NHV products are all natural and do not contain any artificial preservatives. If the supplement was only at room temperature for a few hours and does not have a funny smell to it then it may still be safe to use. However, we have to leave this up to the discretion of the pet parent.

Does the product expire? Where do I find the expiry date?+

All NHV supplements have long expiry dates (years) and expiry dates are written on the shoulder of the glass bottle. Please note that once a bottle has been opened it requires refrigeration and will keep for 6 months in the fridge.

Can I use a cat supplement for a dog and vice vera?+

Absolutely! All our supplements are safe to use with cats, dogs, birds and other small animals like rabbits, ferrets, etc. The formulas are the same for both cat listed products and dog listed products, it is just the dosage that is likely to differ as they go by weight.

My pet has diarrhea, is this caused by the supplement?+

Our NHV supplements are gentle formulations that are designed specifically for pets by a master herbalist and a holistic veterinarian with more than 20 years' experience developing plant-based remedies.  The supplements should not cause diarrhea, vomiting or any other side effects.  As some pets do have more sensitive systems than others, we do recommend administering the supplements with food or just after eating so that your furry friend has a full tummy as this will be easier on their system.

Note: Small changes in your pet’s daily regime can sometimes effect their system and cause irregular bowel movements.  These can include and are not limited to: new food, new treats, a visit to a new area, if they have eaten something from outside, nervousness or stress… etc.

I have a coupon code, where do I enter it?+

Valid coupon codes can be entered while in your shopping cart (before you proceed to the checkout).  There is a large grey box at the bottom where the code should be placed. If you are already in the checkout, simply use the back arrow in your browser to go back a page and enter it before continuing, as this is the only place to enter coupon codes.

I am confused about the dosages.  How do I know which dosage to use?+

All of our dosages are safe to use for pets, so there is no worry about causing harm if you use the higher of the two dosages. Each of our supplements are designed to be used for both maintenance of health and to address a condition, therefore we offer a maintenance dosage and a therapeutic dosage. The therapeutic dosage is a higher dosage to provide your furry friend with additional support and benefit when dealing with a condition.

Dosage recommended for maintenance of health:

To be taken twice daily: 1 drop per 2 lbs (1kg) of body weight up to 50lbs (25kg). Thereafter add 1 drop for every additional 4lbs (2kg).

Dosage recommended for addressing a condition:

To be taken twice daily:

0 - 24 lbs = 0.5 mL

25 - 49 lbs = 1.0 mL

50 - 74 lbs = 1.5 mL

Over 75 lbs = 2.0 mL

**Please note: 1 drop is not a full dropper.  1 drop is the portion of supplement that falls from the end of the dropper when gently squeezed.
