Yucca root is widely used in cat food as well as in other pet foods. It is a herb that is highly nutritive as it is rich in vitamin C, beta-carotene, B vitamins, magnesium, iron, calcium, manganese, protein, niacin and phosphorus. Yucca contains two very beneficial compounds: sarsasapogenin and smilagenin. These two compounds work on the mucous membranes of the small intestine. These compounds help with the penetration and absorption of minerals and vitamins. Sarsasapogenin and Smilagenin are known as steroidal saponins (phytosterols) which act as precursors to corticosteroids produced naturally by the body. Steroidal saponins support the immune function of the body while stimulating and supporting the production of its own corticosteroids and corticosteroid–related hormones. Due to this action, studies conducted on yucca have shown that it may be beneficial and effective for pain and inflammation in conditions such as arthritis. Yucca may also be a natural appetite stimulant for cats and may also help reduce the production of urease, which contributes to the unpleasant odors of urine and feces in some cats.

To be taken twice daily. Determine your pet’s weight and then use the easy chart below to determine the correct dose. This is the minimum dosage.

Pet's Weight Dosage

0 - 15 lb = 0.5 ml

16 - 30 lb = 1.0 ml

31 - 45 lb = 1.5 ml

46 - 60 lb = 2.0 ml

61 - 75 lb = 2.5 ml

Over 75 lb = 3.0 ml

For small animals (rabbits, ferrets), avians and reptiles use 1 drop for every 2 lb of body weight.

How to Administer: Shake well before use. The easiest method is to use the dropper provided and place the drops into your pet’s food or favorite treat. You can also use the dropper and squirt directly into the pet’s mouth. Some pets can be finicky, if this occurs consider hiding the drops in foods most pet’s love such as fish, chicken, yogurt, or a favorite treat. If your pet only eats dry food then soak a few kibbles at feeding time.

For Best Results: Herbal dietary supplements are beneficial to the health and well-being of your pet and are safe for long-term use. Every pet responds to natural herbal supplements differently, therefore it is important to be consistent and administer the product daily. Supplements generally take two to four weeks to take effect, however this will vary from one animal to the next.

Little Herbie Johnson & Sarah - Kansas | December 5, 2018

I give this and some other NHV supplements to my Tuxedo baby, Little Herbie Johnson. Herbie is around 6-7 years old. He found me when he was a young cat. He suffers from called Plasma Cell Podoermatitis or pillow foot. It causes painful calluses, bruising and cracking on the pads of his feet. It would hurt him to walk & he was always holding up his paws. The vet told me he would be on steroids the rest of his life & they would shorten his life. All while the serious health issues caused by them would shorten his life. I refused to accept this. I'd seen several cats on Twitter talk about NHV products & decided to try them. We use 5 NHV supplements for him. We mix in an empty bottle. Herbie is extremely finicky so the food & treat option was out. He gets 2 droppers of the supplements a day. He doesn't put up a fight or fuss so there's likely no taste, just the slight annoyance of opening his mouth for the droppers. I just started using it with other NHV supplements for 2 of his siblings. I will say the combination of the 5 has made difference. He's acting like he was when he first found me. He's a bit spunky (he's always been chill) he'll play a little, zip around and now wants to be back on my lap every day. The symptoms of pillow foot are much better. The cracking/flaking is a lot better. The bruising is lessening. I know this part will take some time. Your staff is wonderful. I told a friend about you. She ended up ordering for some of her cats and dogs! NHV is a blessing. Thank you so much! *

We have a cat very nervous, thin. If he hears the slightest noise, he doesn't eat. Normally he just want to eat late at night. During the day he is a finicky eater. We are worried about his health. We remembered that Yucca improve appetite. We start to give him Yucca. For the moment, we can say that he eats what we give him and at the time we give him. It is a surprise for us and we are satisfied. *

My Leo is a CKD kitty and prone to diminished appetite and he has never been a big eater. I tried this in an effort to stimulate his appetite and it has worked! Although he still does not usually eat very much at one time (though this has improved) he eats more often and even asks to be fed sometimes. Really pleased! Also pleased with the support I got from the NHV team as I was exploring doses and long-term options with the supplement. *

Susan N - Portsmouth, RI | August 11, 2015

I have been using Yucca for several months now on several cats and 1 dog. I started using it for Fluffy, a former feral lady, who developed Inflammatory bowel disease. She was about 15 yrs. old and the effects of the illness were terrible diarrhea, weight loss, vomiting, and hairballs. She also lost her appetite. Her lovely, long, thick coat had become dull, thin, stringy. She simply felt and looked poorly. She would also develop constipation in between boots of diarrhea. She could not tolerate hairball meds or nutrical or pumpkin without more diarrhea. The vet put her on a small dose appetite stimulant, and meds to help with the intestine. Although these offered some help, it simply was not enough. After being on Yucca for 2 months or so the transformation was quite noticeable. The symptoms stopped, the lovely coat returned, she is now able to eat pumpkin when needed along with the nutrical. The hairballs are infrequent, her weight is up, and she is a much more content lady or now wants petting and combing as opposed to sleeping all day. It worked so well that I decided to give it to my 3 other older cats to help with digestion and app. stim. and to 1 dog who sometimes vomits due to allergies. We are all very happy with this product. *
