Manchester Terrier

Originated from England, the Manchester Terrier was bred to control rat populations. The Manchester is a lean and athletic dog, due to crosses with Whippets during the early development of the breed. Today they come in two types: the standard and the toy and the only difference between them is the size. Also referred to as the English Gentleman’s Terrier and the Gentleman’s Terrier, they are high-spirited and intelligent dogs and tend to form strong bonds with their family.
Common Health Conditions
- Luxating patella, a condition in which one or both knee caps are unstable and occasionally slip out of place.
- Hypothyroidism- a common hormonal disease in dogs in which the thyroid gland doesn’t produce enough thyroxin.
- If your Manchester Terrier does come down with a tick-borne infection, it is important to detoxify the blood and support the immune system.
