Ragamuffins are extremely affectionate and thrive on the company of pets and people. Humans coming home from work will often find their Ragamuffin curled up at the door in anticipation of their arrival, sometimes waiting for hours. They are long-bodied, and have a beautiful, long plume of a tale. Pets and children will always be able to get along with your Ragamuffin due to their playful and tolerant nature.
Common Health Conditions
- Fleas can be a big problem for any breed, including Ragamuffins- and while they aren’t necessarily a health problem in and of themselves they can create a variety of health issues.
- Squamous cell carcinoma of the ear, eyelid or nose is a skin cancer caused by repeated exposure to the sun. White, or light colored, cats are more susceptible to squamous cell carcinoma.
- Ragamuffins can suffer from different infectious diseases like any other cat, including Felv and FIV. Cats infected with feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV) may not show symptoms until years after the initial infection occurred. Although the virus is slow-acting, a cat’s immune system is severely weakened once the disease takes hold. This makes the cat susceptible to various secondary infections.
