Smooth Fox Terrier
The Smooth Fox Terrier can be described as friendly, energetic and outgoing. They are terrific companions for children as they never tire of playing, so they are suitable for families with an active lifestyle. Their dense, flat coat is mainly white, with black, tan, or black and tan markings. Their head and muzzle is flat, with a V-shaped skull. They are hunters with a strong prey drive, so they love to play fetch and dig in the yard- often described as outgoing and inquisitive creatures, and loving and affectionate family members.
Common Health Conditions
- There are a few different types of stones that can form in the kidney or in the bladder, and Smooth Fox Terriers are more likely to develop them than other breeds.
- Smooth Fox Terriers are susceptible to bacterial and viral infections — the same ones that all dogs can get — such as parvo, rabies, and distemper.
- In dogs, rather than sneezing, allergies make their skin itchy. We call this skin allergy “atopy”, and SFTs often have it. The feet, belly, folds of the skin, and ears are most commonly affected.
