Common Health Conditions
- Hairballs can often occur with excessive grooming and licking. While these typically pass through the cats system, sometimes the hairballs can become lodged within the cats stomach or cause intestinal blockage
- Ear infections can occur in any cat and are often a result of a separate underlying condition, such as ear mites, trauma to the ear, abnormal growths or allergies.
- When the thyroid gland, located in the neck, begins to overproduce the thyroid hormone this is called Hyperthyroidism in cats. Typically affecting cats 7 years or older, the overproduction increases the cat’s metabolism creating long term negative effects on the heart, kidneys and other organs.
