Yucca root is widely used in dog food as well as in other pet foods. It is a herb that is highly nutritive as it is rich in vitamin C, beta-carotene, B vitamins, magnesium, iron, calcium, manganese, protein, niacin and phosphorus. Yucca contains two very beneficial compounds sarsasapogenin and smilagenin.  These two compounds work on the mucous membranes of the small intestine. These compounds help with the penetration and absorption of minerals and vitamins.  Sarsasapogenin and Smilagenin are know as steroidal saponins (phytosterols) which act as precursors to corticosteroids produced naturally by the body. Steroidal saponins support the immune function of the body, while stimulating and supporting the production of its own corticosteroids and corticosteroid–related hormones. Due to this action, studies conducted on yucca have shown that it may be beneficial and effective for pain and inflammation in conditions such as arthritis. Yucca may also be supportive in stimulating the appetite and may also help reduce the production of urease, which contributes to the unpleasant odors of urine and feces in some dogs.

To be taken twice daily. Determine your pet’s weight and then use the easy chart below to determine the correct dose. This is the minimum dosage.

Pet's Weight Dosage

0 - 15 lb = 0.5 ml

16 - 30 lb = 1.0 ml

31 - 45 lb = 1.5 ml

46 - 60 lb = 2.0 ml

61 - 75 lb = 2.5 ml

Over 75 lb = 3.0 ml

For small animals (rabbits, ferrets), avians and reptiles use 1 drop for every 2 lb of body weight.

Long term use:  Feed recommended dosage every other day (1 day on 1 day off). If used in large dosages or over a long period of time it may become irritating to the stomach lining. Some pets may require a larger dosage due to their metabolism. You can safely double the recommended dosage.

How to Administer: Shake well before use. The easiest method is to use the dropper provided and place the drops into your pet’s food or favorite treat. You can also use the dropper and squirt directly into the pet’s mouth. Some pets can be finicky, if this occurs consider hiding the drops in foods most pet’s love such as fish, chicken or yogurt or a favourite treat. If your pet only eats dry food then soak a few kibbles at feeding time.

For Best Results: Herbal dietary supplements are beneficial to the health and well-being of your pet and are safe for long-term use. Every pet responds to natural herbal supplements differently, therefore it is important to be consistent and administer the product daily. Supplements generally take two to four weeks to take effect, however this will vary from one animal to the next.

Product Storage: All NHV Natural Pet Products are pure herbal extracts and contain no artificial additives, preservatives or coloring.  Shelf life after opening is 6 months and must be refrigerated after opening.

Cautions and Contraindications: Do not use Yucca in pregnant or nursing animals. Allowing breaks in feeding helps alleviate the possibility of a irritating effect on the digestive tract. Speak to your vet before using our products. A second visit is recommended if your pet’s condition does not improve, or deteriorates after continued use of the supplements. All information provided by NHV Natural Pet Products is for educational purposes only.

I have a 16 year old cat with CKD - diagnosed 4 years ago. Tripsy has really helped Leo. When his appetite started to decline, I turned to NHV for solutions and found Yucca. It really has worked for him! Now, we have a very ill dog, Nitro (who has had success with NHV's Milk Thistle) whose appetite is waning. We have started Yucca with him as well and it seems to be helping. I have been happy with every NHV product I have used. *

Kathy & Ike - Sequim, Washington | January 18, 2017

Ike is a 100% Raw fed Yellow Lab who had TPLO surgery 3yrs ago. I wanted to add supplements to his diet that would help reduce his need for Nsaid medication. I worked long distance with Donna M. Raditic, D.V.M, C.V.A U of Tenn. to develop a diet that worked best for Ike's needs. Dr R highly recommended NHV supplements. I started with the Detox formula followed by Milk Thistle to cleanse Ike liver from any damage from all meds following his surgery. with a lengthy recoup time. I introduced STIMMUNE to boost his immune system since Ike seems to have a sensitivity to Gluten. Currently we are alternating between TURMERIC & OLD TIMER to assist his joints. When he over does it-(Ike was a Greyhound in his former life-) I add YUCCA into his daily supplements. I see a big difference in his recovery rate. I prefer the ease of adding a liquid herbal that is easy to dose and is well tolerated by my Lab. I'm particular about the supplements I use and I'm pleased that NHV products maintain high standards . I'm so happy that I was referred to NHV . Ike is now 6 and I expect will have many more years of running through the woods. I plan on continuing with NHV products for life. *

I love the NHV products. The Old Timer and Yucca were very helpful for my elderly collie's arthritis. I am currently using Trypsy, Milk Thistle, and Turmeric for my cat's renal issues. I believe that Trypsy along and sub q fluids have really kept my kitty alive and acting like he has not problems at all. *

Our dog is making a miraculous comeback. We took her in for blood work last week, just 1 week after we started her on Tripsy, Resp-Aid, Yucca, and Mellit. To our surprise all of her blood levels dropped 50%. The vet was stunned as he was preparing us for the worst. She's more energetic now and improving everyday. We are scheduled for more blood work next week to make sure things are moving in the right direction. We can't thank you enough for your support and guidance and rushing the order to us over night. We are so lucky we found you. *

Susan N - Portsmouth, R | August 11, 2015

I have been using Yucca for several months now on several cats and 1 dog. I started using it for Fluffy, a former feral lady, who developed Inflammatory bowel disease. She was about 15 yrs. old and the effects of the illness were terrible diarrhea, weight loss, vomiting, and hairballs. She also lost her appetite. Her lovely, long, thick coat had become dull, thin, stringy. She simply felt and looked poorly. She would also develop constipation in between boots of diarrhea. She could not tolerate hairball meds or nutrical or pumpkin without more diarrhea. The vet put her on a small dose appetite stimulant, and meds to help with the intestine. Although these offered some help, it simply was not enough. After being on Yucca for 2 months or so the transformation was quite noticeable. The symptoms stopped, the lovely coat returned, she is now able to eat pumpkin when needed along with the nutrical. The hairballs are infrequent, her weight is up, and she is a much more content lady or now wants petting and combing as opposed to sleeping all day. It worked so well that I decided to give it to my 3 other older cats to help with digestion and app. stim. and to 1 dog who sometimes vomits due to allergies. We are all very happy with this product. *
