Abyssinian

Abyssinian

Overview

The Abyssinian is probably one of the oldest known breeds and best known for their resemblance to their much-revered ancient Egyptian ancestors.  New genetic studies lean towards the breed originating on the coast of the Indian Ocean and in parts of Southeast Asia. Abyssinians are known for their striking ‘ticked’ coat where their fur has bands of color on each individual hair and the coat looks darker along the spine.  This short-haired breed is a medium-sized cat in the 8 to 12 lbs range.

Personality

Abyssinians are curious, courageous and high-spirited. Aby’s are very active and athletic.  Your typical Abyssinian loves to spend her days climbing up to high places, exploring every nook and cranny and supervising whatever you are doing at the time too.
