Description

All-Natural Rabbit Digestive System Support

If your sweet bunny has an upset tummy from a hairball, they may be suffering from GI stasis (gastrointestinal stasis). Rabbits cannot throw up, so to keep your little one healthy, you need to keep things moving in their GI tract and encourage healthy elimination.

Unlike a cat or a ferret whose hairballs are 100% hair, a rabbit hairball is not just hair, it tends to be a mixture of hair plus stomach contents. Long-haired bunnies like Angoras and Jersey Woollys are more likely to develop hairballs than their short-haired bunny cousins; however, all rabbits can develop them. Bunnies require a lot of indigestible fiber to keep things moving along, so if their diet is out of balance, they may develop rabbit gastric stasis. Our NHV Hairb-EZ helps to dissolve hair buildup, soothe inflammation, and help undigested matter move through the digestive tract.

Signs to look out for if your pet is suffering from rabbit gastric stasis:

  • Rabbits will eat less over the course of a few days or weeks and may eventually stop eating completely.
  • Droppings may become smaller, then completely stop.
  • Affected rabbits may be bright and alert for many days after they stop eating.
  • Rabbits may refuse to eat pellets but may chew the paper on the bottom of the cage, wood in the home, or wallboard — all sources of the fiber they are craving.
  • Some rabbits have soft, squishy stools prior to a complete loss of appetite.
  • As the condition progresses with further dehydration of the contents in their digestive tract and eventual shutdown of the GI tract, a rabbit is likely to become more lethargic, depressed, and may eventually die.

How NHV Remedies Supports Digestive Health and Hairball Control

Because of the way a rabbit’s digestive system works, they cannot vomit. So unlike kitties who can cough up hairballs and loose fur, if a bunny cannot get something out of their system, they may stop eating, become lethargic and eventually die. Bunnies groom a lot so they tend to ingest a lot of hair. Rabbit hairballs only become a problem if your little one’s digestive system can't move the hair through the stomach and intestinal tract at an average speed, leading to a possible blockage and issues with other organs. NHV Hairb-EZ is formulated to support your bunny’s digestive health, organ health and to help eliminate hairballs naturally.

FAQ

Do rabbits get hairballs?

They can! But unlike a cat or a ferret whose hairballs are 100% hair, a rabbit hairball is not just hair, it is generally a mixture of hair plus stomach contents. Long-haired bunnies like Angoras and Jersey Woollys may be at a higher risk of developing hairballs than their short-haired bunny cousins; however, all rabbits can develop them!

I noticed that there is alcohol in the formula. Is it safe?

The medicinal properties of certain herbs in this recipe are more bioavailable when extracted with alcohol; a very small amount is leftover after the extraction process . All of our supplements are vet-formulated and have been used safely on pets for decades. However, any concerned pet parents can use a teaspoon of boiling water to evaporate any remaining alcohol.

What are symptoms of rabbit gastric stasis?

  • Rabbits will eat less over a period of days or weeks and may eventually stop eating completely.
  • Droppings may become smaller, then completely stop.
  • Affected rabbits may be bright and alert for many days after they stop eating.
  • Rabbits will refuse to eat pellets but may chew the paper on the bottom of the cage, the wood in the home, or wallboard, which are all sources of the fiber they are craving.
  • Some rabbits have periodic soft, squishy stools prior to a complete loss of appetite.
  • As the condition progresses with further dehydration of the contents in their digestive tract and finally the shutdown of the GI tract, a rabbit is likely to become more lethargic, depressed, and may eventually die.
