Overview of Nebelung
They may look like a Russian Blue with long fur, but they are so much more than that! As the only longhaired kitty that comes exclusively in blue, the Nebelung cat is a new and rare breed whose name is inspired by Wagner's Ring Cycle, a.k.a. The Ring of the Nibelung. Despite their German name (which translates roughly to fog), these fluffy kitties resulted from a black-haired cat having kittens with a Russian Blue in Denver, Colorado. Their blue coat and intense green eye coloring may take up to two years to develop. The Nebelung is a medium-sized cat (7-15 lbs) whose coat requires daily grooming to prevent matting, especially their plumed tail and tufted paws.
Personality of Nebelung
The Nebelung is like a gray/blue cloud in the form of a cat. They dislike loud noises and sudden changes, so they may not be the best choice for small children and prefer to bond to one or two people. If startled, they are likely to disappear like a puff of smoke. A Nebelung kitten is a gentle, quiet cat who is not destructive by nature, and their sense of humor is sure to entertain any cat lover.
Common Health Issues & Recommendations for Nebelung
Cat diabetes: is a health issue for many kitties, especially obese kitties. Since Nebelung cats have quite a hearty appetite, they can be more susceptible to developing diabetes. This condition occurs when the body cannot produce sufficient levels of insulin to regulate blood sugar levels.
Recommendations for Diabetes in Nebelung Cats:
- Diabetes Super Support Gold Kit - Contains a blend of nutritive herbs that may help regulate healthy blood sugar levels, help soothe inflammation and encourage gentle detoxification.
Chronic renal failure in cats: is a condition where there is a slow, progressive loss of kidney function, which may lead to eventual organ failure. CRF is one of the most common forms of illness and death in senior kitties but it can affect young cats too.
Recommendations for Chronic Renal Failure in Nebelung Cats:
- Kidney Failure Super Support Kit - Formulated as a bundle of natural remedies to help support liver and kidney function, help regulate fluid levels, and encourage healing.
Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy in cats: is the most common heart problem in cats and there may be a higher than average likelihood of Nebelung kitties developing this condition later in life. The heart’s muscles begin to thicken over time leading to impaired heart function. A yearly checkup is highly recommended.

- Heart Health Super Support Kit - A blend of nutrient rich plant extracts that may help ease symptoms of cardiovascular disease, offer beneficial support for healthy heart function and encourage blood circulation in the body.
