Description
The yucca plant is used in bunny feed because it is full of vitamins and minerals, such as magnesium and Vitamin C, which are used by the immune system.
As a natural rabbit supplement, yucca has many uses for our big-eared friends.
The Uses of Yucca Rabbit Supplements
In addition to vitamins and minerals, the root of yucca contains saponins. These natural saponins may encourage the body to stimulate its own production of steroids, making yucca a potentially useful addition for bunnies with head tilt.
Another common use is as a digestive wellness rabbit supplement. That’s because the saponins may also help bunnies break down nutrients, leading to better absorption in the gut and a balanced appetite. As a bonus, yucca may even help reduce potty-time odors by binding to ammonia (the smelly chemical!).
Finally, yucca root is recognized for its potential to help the body respond to inflammation. Therefore, it may help ease inflammation and discomfort in bunnies with arthritis.
Is Yucca Safe for Rabbits?
While rabbits should not eat other parts of the yucca plant, such as the leaves, the root of yucca provides benefits for rabbits in vet-determined amounts when formulated correctly. NHV Yucca is formulated and approved by our vet team for uses such as digestive wellness, arthritis support, and more.

FAQ
At what age do rabbits get arthritis?
Arthritis in rabbits often develops as they enter their senior years, at 6 years or older. However, rabbits can get early-onset arthritis as early as two years old. Pay attention to signs like reluctance to play or hop, difficulty grooming, and urine scalding (redness in the hindquarters caused by urine). Taking a proactive approach includes early detection, correcting obesity, and taking natural supplements, such as NHV Yucca for Rabbits.
What are the digestive problems of rabbits?
Rabbits are susceptible to a number of digestive problems. One of the most common is gastrointestinal stasis, where the gut slows or stops. However, other problems include bloating, low appetite, and infections, which are often triggered by low-fiber diets, stress, or dehydration. Always contact your vet if your bunny is not eating or passing stool.
