What can you do if your little one suffers from pancreatitis in dogs and cats? What are the best supplements for dogs with pancreatitis and cats with pancreatitis?
Pancreatitis in dogs and cats can make your furkiddo’s life uncomfortable. As a pet parent, it is definitely not something you’d want your precious little one to endure. That’s why it’s a good idea to help support them by providing natural supplements like the ones in our Pancreatitis and Diarrhea Support Kit. It can help your furkiddo manage the symptoms and discomfort pancreatitis might bring, ease pancreas swelling, and provide additional nutritional support. This bundle contains Mellit, Milk Thistle, Plantaeris, and Multi Essentials.
All our herbal extracts are free of added preservatives, additives, flavorings, or artificial colors. They are made with organically grown and ethically harvested (or ethically sourced) herbs.
What is Pancreatitis in Dogs and Cats
To understand how our supplements may help, we should first understand what pancreatitis is. Pancreatitis in our furriends happens when there is inflammation in their pancreas, a vital organ that produces enzymes and hormones like insulin. The organ is responsible for digesting food and regulating blood sugar and glucose. Therefore, when inflamed, the pancreas cannot perform these functions properly.
Symptoms of Pancreatitis Cats and Dogs
Pancreatitis signs can be subtle at first and may appear out of nowhere. So, you should be informed and prepared for them well before they hit.
NHV herbal extracts can also be used as a preventative support for pancreatitis in dogs and cats. So even if your furkiddo doesn’t show any of the following signs, keeping these supplements at arms reach may be a good idea.
Without further ado, here are some common symptoms,
- Pain in the abdomen (furkiddos may appear bloated)
- Diarrhea
- Constant vomiting
- Eating less due to appetite loss
- Fatigue/moving slower than usual
- Dehydration
It is easy to mistake these symptoms for other health conditions, as some overlap. However, it is vital to contact a licensed veterinarian to determine the cause as soon as they exhibit these signs over an extended period. Because if they indeed have pancreatitis, the consequence can be life-threatening.
How NHV Remedies Support Pancreatitis in Dogs and Cats
Our Pancreatitis and Diarrhea Support Kit can support your little one alongside traditional treatment. Let’s dive deeper and learn how exactly they help your furkid.
As mentioned earlier, a healthy pancreas helps regulate the body's blood sugar levels. When there is inflammation, furkids need supplements to help fill in for this role. That’s why our pet experts have bundled our main support for pancreatitis in furkiddos, Mellit, into this kit.
The herbal formulation helps manage blood sugar levels and may even help reduce the inflammation of the pancreas. Jambolan, in particular, may help stop the transformation of starch into sugar when blood sugar levels are elevated. The amino acid in Fenugreek also supports insulin production, which may be disrupted by pancreatitis.
In addition, the carefully selected herbs work together to ease the symptoms of pancreatitis, such as helping to improve appetite and chronic fatigue.
For primary diarrhea support, a significant symptom of pancreatitis, Plantaeris can help. The unique blend of herbs assists the body in maintaining a normal bowel function and relieves spasms of the digestive tract, as well as any discomfort diarrhea may cause.
Barberry and bayberry in this formula have been traditionally used to help with diarrhea and stomach upsets. Studies have shown that barberry improves diarrhea symptoms faster than antibiotics.
Chamomile has powerful calming effects that may be used as a digestive tonic and is beneficial to pancreas inflammation.
Another supplement added to this kit is Multi Essentials. The highly nutritious supplement offers your furkiddo the extra nutritional support they need for this fight. Herbs like Alfalfa are rich in protein, vitamins, minerals, dietary fibre, and amino acids. It can also help with the immune system and overall health of your little one.
Other herbs also may help with blood sugar level regulation and pancreatitis symptoms like bloating. Chickweed in the formula is traditionally used to treat stomach and bowel problems as well as blood disorders.
Last but not least, the anti-inflammatory properties of Milk Thistle can help with the swollen pancreas. The herbal extract may also help the body’s overall immunity and digestion of fat and sugar.
On top of that, Milk Thistle is very helpful for liver support and detoxification. Furkiddos with pancreatitis need to take long-term medication, so it is important to help support their system and help flush the toxins out.
