Hyperthyroidism in cats is a common condition seen in middle-aged to older cats.

This affliction is caused by the overproduction of the thyroid hormones T3 and T4, due to the enlargement of the thyroid gland, which is located in the neck of the feline. The thyroid gland gets enlarged due to a benign (non cancerous) tumor.

As the thyroid hormones control the function of nearly all the organs, it is common to see secondary health conditions such a heart disease, hypertension and kidney disease.

Common symptoms of hyperthyroidism in cats include:
-Weight loss
-Increased appetite
-Increased thirst and urination
-Poor fur condition
-Possible vomiting and diarrhea

The NHV Hyperthyroidism Kit may be helpful in supporting your cat’s thyroid and overall organ function. We have combined two vet formulated herbal supplements:

NHV Resthyro – This supplement has been formulated combining several different herbs that are known to help control thyroid hormone production, and support heart circulatory and kidney function. When using supplements to support hyperthyroidism it is important that the organs most affect by the condition are supported as well.  For additional information on the herbs please click on the ingredients tab.

NHV Turmeric – is an ancient herb/spice that has well known health benefits.

Turmeric contains curcumin, which is a powerful antioxidant that makes it beneficial for pain and inflammation.  Research has found that it is a powerful herb for heart health.  It helps with hypertension, lowers bad cholesterol and supports both the heart and liver function. It is also beneficial in aiding digestion and diarrhea in cats and dogs.

Turmeric is used a lot in cooking and food; in fact it’s what gives the yellow color in common foods such as mustard. It’s particularly common spice in South Asian and Middle Eastern cooking.

If your pet has been diagnosed with hyperthyroidism along with Heart Disease and or Kidney Disease then consider adding NHV Hearty Heart and NHV Tripsy to your pet's daily supplement regimen.

To be taken twice daily. Determine your pet’s weight and then use the easy chart below to determine the correct dose. This is the minimum dosage.

Pet's Weight Dosage

0 - 15 lb = 0.5 ml

16 - 30 lb = 1.0 ml

31 - 45 lb = 1.5 ml

46 - 60 lb = 2.0 ml

61 - 75 lb = 2.5 ml

Over 75 lb = 3.0 ml

For small animals (rabbits, ferrets), avians and reptiles use 1 drop for every 2 lb of body weight.

How to Administer
Shake well before use.The easiest method is to use the dropper provided and place the drops into your pet’s food or favorite treat. You can also use the dropper and squirt directly into the pet’s mouth. Some pets can be finicky, if this occurs consider hiding the drops in foods most pet’s love such as fish, chicken or yogurt or a favourite treat. If your pet only eats dry food then soak a few kibbles at feeding time.

A few months ago, we bought our first Hyperthyroidism Gold Support Kit for our 15 year old Maine Coon. In previous months, she had been rapidly losing weight and appearing more and more fatigued. She was also losing interest in playing and just wasn't acting like herself anymore. Her appetite was still quite good, yet no matter how much she ate, she wasn't gaining weight. We noticed an improvement within the first few weeks of giving her the drops. Her coat was coming back and not appearing dirty/oily anymore. She was beginning to gain weight again and acting a little more energetic. We ran out of drops a few weeks ago and we're already noticing a slight decline again in our little girl, so we are making sure we place another order right away. We will make sure we always have some on hand. It truly makes a difference! *

One of our sweet kitties started sneezing frequently back in December and then there was bits of blood splatter on the blankets where he sleeps. We took him to the vet and tried various antibiotics, then a nasal flush, then an x-ray and small biopsy. Turns out our sweet guy has a nasal carcinoma, which the only treatment for is laser radiation over a series of treatments, totaling $5-7k, which is beyond out of reach for us. They could try various chemo treatments, but the chances of that helping were very low. He's still so playful and normal otherwise. We decided to supplement his already raw-food diet with NHV supplements after a lot of research. He also has Hyperthyroidism, poor guy! We bought one of the cancer protocols which includes ES-Clear, BK-Detox and I think Milk Thistle. We also got Turmeric and the Resthyro. We've been giving him these supplements, along with a few others, and he is going strong. Super appetite, very playful and loving and the swelling on his nose by his eye has even decreased. We know it's likely that eventually the tumor will cause him breathing problems or pain and we will have to let him go, but we are so incredibly happy with the quality of life NHV products has helped him maintain for the last 3 months and the quality of time we've gotten to spend with him after his prognosis. Thank you for all your help! *

My 17 year-old kitty Sasha has issues with hyperthyroidism. I had a another kitty in the past named Tigger, who had the same problem. I gave Tigger the medicine that the vet prescribed, but that caused more problems than it solved. She could not tolerate it, and it only made Tigger worse. She eventually passed away from the hyperthyroidism. So now that Sasha is having problems with her thyroid, I was determined to find a different and better way to address the problem. I tried the kit for hyperthyroidism with Rethyro and Tumeric, and it is gentle on Sasha's system, and her symptoms of yowling, difficulty with grooming, upset stomach, and overall disposition have really improved. And trying to give Sasha medicines in pill form is an exercise in futility, so the fact that the supplements are in liquid form is really a big bonus. So if you have a cat who is facing health issues, I urge you to consider all the possible options, and consider using nhv natural pet products, because I have found them to be a kinder, gentler, and effective way to help address Sasha's needs for treatment. *

My 13 year old Cat, Junior is a different cat. He went from being completely lethargic (slept all day practically and never saw him walking around the house), horrible coat and not eating much to now, playing with my other cat. He's out and about. His energy level is what I noticed first. His coat looks so much better and he's eating. He's not on any pharmaceuticals...just these herbal tonics, along with other supplements, a 7-mushroom capsule, colostrum, Rosehip C, coQ10, Omega 3-6-9 and probiotics/enzymes. I don't check his levels...for one, my vet looks at me with a side eye because I refuse to give him 'pills'. Ugh, I hate when doctors don't believe that herbals supplements and a diet change can and DOES make a difference. I go by how my cat seems to feel. Junior looks to me as if he feels MUCH better. There is no cure for hyperthyroidism but if I can manage his symptoms 'naturally' with little to no side effects, why wouldn't I? He's a happy cat...I'm a happy momma. *

Junior's mom - Sunny Cali | March 25, 2017

My 13 yr old cat, Junior was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism. I've alternated between two other herbal treatments and this is my third one I've tried. I like to alternate, so his system doesn't get used to it. All three brands have the same core ingredients with a few that differ. It's been about three weeks since I started him on the hyperthyroidism kit, hearty heart and tripsy. I have noticed his energy level is way up. He has been playing with his brother. It's been forever since I've seen him play. He went from eating 1 can a day to two cans. Yay!!! His coat looks SO much better. He looks like he FEELS better. Of the three different herbal treatments I have been giving him in the past (never at the same time, of course....once he finished one, I move to another brand) I must say that this one definitely seems to make much more of a difference in his appetite, coat and energy. Nothing will cure him but I plan to give him anything and everything 'natural' until his very last meow. I want my baby boy to feel as well as possible, considering. I also give him Pet Essences and Homeopathic remedies for hyperthyroidism, heart (heart murmur) and for vomiting. He used to vomit (typical for hyperthyroidism) at least once a day. It's now, maybe once a week, if that. Side note: I do not give him any meds. I had another cat with the same condition (passed many years ago) and I whole heartedly believed in my vet(s) and gave them any pill they poor Baby had way too many side effects because of it. I was not into holistic treatments back then. I know not every patient will respond the same but our furry babies are with us for a blink of an eye, so please give all of these products a try. It's worth it!!! *

My cat Mr. Raoul, is 19 years old. Vet diagnosed him with hyperthyroidism, and gave some meds that he would throw-up. He was very thin with no appetite. Started giving him a full dropper of your supplements every morning. He is now eating and seems to be responding. I realize that at his age he doesn't have a lot of time left on earth. However, I want him to be comfortable till the end. This product seems to be helping. *

Darlene - Reno, NV | September 28, 2015

One month ago (Aug 2015), I bought this (NHV Hyperthyroidism Kit 1)for my 20+ year old male cat because he had all the symptoms of having a thyroid problem. He has always been an outdoor cat that is sociable on his own terms. His main diet for 17 years has been local prey (mice, voles, rabbits, quail, doves, etc.) and he’s always been healthy, active, fast and thin. He has his own private sanctuary in the garage and he’s always been smart enough to come inside at night or during cold weather. Two years or so ago we noticed him slowing down and actually becoming more social and a whole lot more vocal. By last year he was hunting less and relying more and more on the dry kibble and canned cat food we offered him. Being accustomed to live caught prey he is very picky when it comes to a canned cat food and the only one he would eat was a salmon pate. He kept getting thinner and thinner, moved slowly and was reluctant to sit down or lay down because of apparent pain and/or discomfort. We began contemplating calling the vet to come out and having him euthanized because we didn’t want him to be in pain. However, his eyes still seemed alert and we just couldn’t make the call. Near the end of August, I ordered the Hyperthyroidism Kit 1 and started him on the drops twice daily. First of all, I tasted the drops myself and found them pleasant tasting so I offered him the drops directly into his mouth. He was okay with one dose but not a second one so I started adding both supplements in his food. I would take about a tablespoon of the cat food, mix in the drops and give him that small amount first to make sure he’d get the full dosage. He’d eat that right away and then I’d give him the rest of the can. Let me stop right here and explain that during my online research into his symptoms and the eventual determination of hyperthyroidism I learned that cat food with seafood, especially salmon, contains high amounts of iodine and iodine is a leading cause of hyperthyroidism. YIKES! I’d been feeding him only salmon pate as well as a kibble that contained salmon. I immediately got rid of all the salmon cat food and changed him to chicken only pate. He’s still very picky but I have found one brand of chicken that he will eat. It has now been one month that he has been on the drops and I am astounded at how well he is doing. He’s moving much quicker now and actually runs up and down the ramps in the garage that lead to his favorite perches. He has gained some weight back but is still thinner than his normal younger thinness. He was devouring two full cans of food a day and is now content with half a can morning and night (1 can a day). His fur is looking a bit shinier and healthier but still not perfect. All in one month! He is also less vocal now and less loud. He also seems to be more alert and has fewer episodes where he just stops and stares at a wall or into space. I would also note that I have been giving him a full dropper dose of each supplement. The recommended dosage is for 1 drop for each 1 pound of body weight and this guy barely weighs in at a pound. I am totally amazed at how well these two supplements have improved our cat’s health and well being. He sits down easier now and gets up faster. Instead of sleeping most of the day, he is back to following us around the property and hanging out with the dog again. He’s almost back to his original annoying and obstinate self. *
