Natural Support for Cat and Dog Whipworm Prevention
Whipworms are one of the most common parasites that our pets are exposed to whenever they leave the house. They are small, thin worms that can be transmitted by eating infected soil (can live for up to 7 years in soil) and fecal matter. Worms feed off of tissue in the GI tract so if left untreated, it can cause serious injury with sometimes fatal consequences. Whipworms impact the large intestines and cecum of dogs. Although this type of parasitic worm rarely affects cats, it can still afflict our feline friends. Our Whipworm Kit can be used as whipworm prevention (especially if your pet likes playing in soil and eating random things) or to help your pet naturally eliminate parasites.
Possible Signs of a Whipworm Infection:
- Weight loss
- Pot-bellied appearance
- Lethargic
- Vomiting
- Diarrhea
- Rectal bleeding
- Dragging hindquarters along the ground
How NHV Remedies Supports Pets with Whipworms
If your furkiddo has whipworms, your vet may recommend a range of treatments including antibiotics and antiparasitic medications. For a more natural approach, we recommend NHV's Inulin-PK, which contains a blend of herbal ingredients that encourage the gentle elimination of internal parasites and help the body fight off infection. Most worms are naturally parasitic so the toxins they leave behind can exhaust and damage the liver and kidneys. Herbs like Milk Thistle are very beneficial for liver and kidney support as well as help reduce cell damage and encourage regeneration.
INULIN PK

MILK THISTLE

FAQ
How did my cat get whipworms?
Whipworms are transmitted by fecal matter or in soil (where they can survive for many years). If your cat likes to eat random things off the ground (like poop) or has been playing in contaminated soil - these are the most likely ways that your cat came into contact with whipworms.
Can you see whipworms?
Whipworms cannot be seen by the naked eye and in order to detect them, a stool sample would need to be examined under a microscope. Due to the inconsistency of egg-laying, it may be difficult to find whipworms right away so your vet may require several samples.
How contagious are whipworms in dogs?
The only way for dogs to get infected with whipworms is by ingesting contaminated soil or feces (containing eggs). Whipworms cannot be transmitted by nursing mothers to their pups nor between other dogs.
Can I give the supplements with medication?
Yes. All of our care products have been formulated to be taken alongside vet-prescribed medication to offer additional support as your pet battles illness. Just remember to leave a two-hour window between our supplements and your pet’s medication.
Do worms make your dog hungry?
Worms typically feed on the GI tract of your pet so they may tear holes or leave toxins behind causing strain on the digestive tract and waste management system of the body. These effects may lead to symptoms such as weight loss, anemia, diarrhea, and bloody stools.
One of the major health issues that may develop from a worm infestation is malnourishment and weight loss. We recommend adding NHV multi-essentials to your dog’s diet to help repair damaged tissue, and deliver vital nutrients to improve absorption and metabolism.
What types of worms can pets get?
There are many types of worms that pets can get. Some of the more common ones are: roundworms, tapeworms, whipworms, and hookworms.
To learn more, read our vet talk about worms and parasites.
Can I get worms from my pet?
Perhaps. If your pet has roundworms, hookworms or whipworms - these worms are transmissible to humans whereas tapeworms are not transmissible to humans.
