Description

Natural Dog Stress Reliever Supplemental Support

With a heightened sense of hearing and smell, small events that seem mundane to us can be terrifying and stressful for your dogs. Sometimes the stress is from the ride to the office, or maybe they are missing their human companions. This all contributes to changes in behavior like excessive panting, drooling, sweaty paws, dilated eyes, pacing, excessively shedding, or just completely shutting down. Some dogs become so stressed that it may lead to fear and aggression.

Other forms of stress in a dog’s life include:

  • Working dogs that are pushed too hard
  • Flying on a plane
  • Special events (eg. fireworks)
  • Staying in a shelter
  • The loss of an owner
  • The loss or addition of a furry playmate
  • Going to a new home
  • Moving

In addition to panting, excessive barking/whining, chewing on themselves, shivering (when it’s not cold), panicked tail wagging, or tense muscles, stress can also cause GI tract issues such as diarrhea or vomiting.

The key to a healthy pup is balance. Too much or too little activity can be harmful, as well as too much or too little socialization. A balanced, clean diet also helps maintain the body and the mind. If your dog is susceptible to stress, you can use calming herbs like those found in NHV Lesstress. This formulation gently acts on the nervous system and immune system to provide a natural dog stress reliever.

How NHV’s Natural Dog Stress Relief Eases Stress and Anxiety

For stressful experiences such as separation anxiety, the loss or addition of a furry friend, special events (eg. fireworks) and illness (stress can cause conditions to worsen), the natural (non-addictive) sedative properties of Lesstress gently relax the nervous system and endocrine system. Ingredients like Chamomile, Passion Flower and Lemon Balm work to calm nerves while ingredients like Reishi, Eleuthero, and Echinacea Angustifolia are very beneficial for helping the body adapt to stress and illness and stimulate healthy immune function.

FAQ

Can Lesstress and Matricalm be used together?

Yes they can! Both natural remedies work on the nervous system in slightly different ways so we would recommend trying each one on its own or together to see what works best for your little one’s needs.

What is the main difference between Lesstress and Matricalm?

Both can be used to help your pet with anxiety. Lesstress is good if your pup needs a little extra immune support. Ingredients like Reishi, Eleuthero and Echinacea Angustifolia help with the immune system and help the body deal with stress. Lesstress and Matricalm can be used together or separately.

What dog breeds are prone to anxiety?

In a recent study on dog behavior (the largest ever conducted), Hannes Lohi, a geneticist at the University of Helsinki, and his colleagues surveyed Finnish owners of over 13,700 dogs representing 264 breeds. They discovered that 72% of all dogs surveyed display some kind of anxious behavior. 32% of them were afraid of noises, which was the most common form of anxiety across all breeds. Fireworks were the no.1 cause of noise sensitivity. Noise sensitivity was most pronounced in Romagnolos (a large, fuzzy retriever native to Italy), wheaten terriers, and mixed breed dogs. The most fearful breeds were Shetland dogs, Spanish Water Dogs and mixed breeds. And almost one-tenth of the miniature schnauzers were aggressive and fearful toward strangers, but such traits were practically unheard of in Labrador retrievers. Taken together, Lohi says, the results suggest a genetic factor to these anxieties—just like in humans. Interestingly, the gene for sociability is closely linked to noise sensitivity.

Should you crate a dog with separation anxiety?

If your dog has been crate trained then putting them into their crate can be a source of comfort when they are separated from their adored humans. However, if they are not crate trained, putting an anxious dog into a crate can further aggravate their stress and may even create negative associations with their crate.

Will Lesstress affect my dog’s personality?

No. Lesstress contains a blend of calming herbs that gently work to relax the body and nervous system. There is no chemical alteration going on that would potentially change your pup’s personality.

How do you calm an anxious dog?

Here are a variety of ways to calm an anxious dog: - walking or playing with them to burn off energy - petting your dog to soothe them - speaking gently and slowly - calming coat or shirt (eg. lightning shirt) - ask your vet about an environmental plug in or spray (pheromone-based) - administer a calming remedy like Lesstress or Matricalm to help relax the nervous system.

Do dogs with anxiety bite?

If your dog gets too stressed out, they can become fearful and display aggressive behavior like chewing on themselves, barking/whining and possibly biting.
